Sears

There are many companies that are well known and have operations all over the United States. Some people like to deal with them, some do not, and the reasons for this are different, but still these companies succeed and grow. They are mostly retailers that operate thousands of stores. And Sears is one of them. This company does not need advertising, consumers are well aware of its products and services. But sometimes consumers do not know about the problems they can meet.

Company outline. Sears, Roebuck and Company is a subsidiary company of Sears Holdings Corporation; it is a mid-range chain of department stores. The company was founded by Richard Sears and Alvah Roebuck in 1886 in Chicago, Illinois. Sears started with the catalogues and then expanded. It specializes in retail of a wide range of items: clothes, footwear, tools, electronics, jewelry, beauty products, appliances, furniture, and bedding. Sears tagline is: “Do not just give a gift, grant a wish”. The company is also represented in Canada and Mexico. The hugest Sears store is located in Toronto, Canada. Its square is just very large. The company is considered to be the one of the largest retailers in the United States of America according to the sales. Sears was even ranked in Fortune 500. This company specializes in retail sale of a huge range of products as it was already mentioned. The stores of Sears are very popular with consumers with average income. People love shopping at Sears because the prices there are really down to earth and most of products are affordable. But people should remember that the company would proceed if there were no income. If the prices are low, something should be low as well. That is why many people complain about the poor customer service.

Complaints. The most wide spread problem at Sears is their return policy. People state that Sears return policy is really unreasonable. It makes it difficult to replace the products if it was broken, damaged or defected. The company refuses to cooperate with customers after the purchase was done. Thus, they underline that their main objective is to sell and it does not matter what can happen to those products they sell. Besides, some consumers complain that the employees are very rude and pushing. They do not leave a customer alone until they make him buy a thing he did not want at all. And Sears customer service representatives are being very rude.
